Outlook worked fine for several years. A couple nights ago I shut down my
computer for the night - Outlook was running fine then. When I booted up the
next morning, I could not receive any emails, but I could send on 2 of my 5
accounts. The Internet is running OK and I can check all mail using the web
mail versions of each service. I reinstalled Outlook 2000 and all updates,
but this didn't help. What could be wrong?

Almost nothing happens. Whenh I click on Send and Receive Mail there are VERY
brief flashes on the screen as Outlook seems to be attempting to retrieve
mail, but no mail shows up and there are no error messages. Outgoing mail is
partly OK - I can send on two of my 5 accounts, but not the others, but I can
get maiol to go out.

Turn on diagnostic logging and see what happens while the client and server
are talking to each other. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/240347/en-us

If this were OL 2002 or later, I'd suggest altering the Send/Receive Group
to temporarily not download from all but one of the failing accounts, but I
don't think OL 2000 has send/receive groups (it's been a long time and I
don't recall). Check the account settings and see if there is an "Include
this account when sending and receiving" type of option and, if so, disable
it for all but one of the failing accounts, then perform a send/receive.

I have set up logging, as suggested. You can isolate individual accounts for
Send/Receive in Outlook 2000, so I will work on that. I have been away for 10
days and will work this problem as I have time. Meanwhile, I can send and
receive on all my accounts on my laptop that is running Ooutlook 2002.

I gave up on solving the problem and installed a newer version of Office and
everything is OK now.
