Hi,

I've just moved to Sky broadband and I'm trying to run my e-mails through to
outlook 2003. I have followed sky's instructions very carefully making sure
all the account settings are correct. (I'll put them at the end of this so
you can see what I've done). I've also enabled 'POP' on my webmail.

When I 'test account settings' it says congratulations, it's all fine and I
can send e-mails. But I keep getting the 623 error message and can't receive.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

These are sky's instructions (which I've followed to the letter!)

1. Enable POP in your Sky Email account.
2. Open Outlook 2003.
3. Click the Tools menu, and select E-mail Accounts...
4. Select Add A New E-mail Account, and click Next.
5. Choose POP3 as your server type by clicking the radio button, and click
Next.
6. Fill in all necessary fields to include the following information:
User Information:
- Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the From:
field of outgoing messages.
- Email Address: Enter your full Sky Email address ((E-Mail Removed))
Server Information:
- Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.tools.sky.com
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.tools.sky.com
Login Information:
- User Name: Enter your Sky Email username (including @sky.com)
- Password: Enter your Sky Email password
7. Click More Settings... and then click the Outgoing Server tab.
8. Check the box next to My Outgoing Server (SMTP) Requires Authentication
and select Use Same Settings As My Incoming Mail Server.
9. Click the Advanced tab, and check the box next to This Server Requires An
Encrypted Connection (SSL) under Incoming Server (POP3).
10. Check the box next to This Server Requires An Encrypted Connection (SSL)
under Outgoing Server (SMTP), and enter 465 in the Outgoing server (SMTP) box.
11. Click OK.
12. Click Test Account Settings... After receiving 'Congratulations! All
tests completed successfully', and click Close.
13. Click Next, and then click Finish.

* Did you click Save Changes after enabling POP in Sky Email? To ensure that
Sky Email can communicate with your mail client, be sure to click Save
Changes on the Sky Email Mail Settings page.

Thanks...

Caroline

What's the exact text of this "623" error message you mention? Have you
called Sky to ask them to help, since you pay them for their service?
