Can I sell a "no longer used" copy of Windows XP?

I had a computer that had an older version of windows 98 and it had some
issues. In an attempt to solve the problem, I went to the store and
purchased a full version copy of Windows XP SP2. I installed this OS
(Windows XP) on the computer on a new HD so the system was fresh & new (and
of course registered the product, etc) . After a couple of months, It became
apparent that there was some problems with the motherboard. The HD was
erased & reformated with no OS present, the remaining hardware was sold as
used scrap computer material. I ended up purchasing a new computer from a
retailer with a new OEM version of Windows. Now I have a "previously
enjoyed" but now "unused copy" of Windows XP still in the retail packaging
gathering dust. Can I sell this copy of Windows XP SP2 to another person
(even though the product key was previously registered to me) ??
Thanks.

Yes.

Registration is optional while activation is mandatory. The buyer can
re-activate that product key after installation, eg. by phone.

And what particular version is this slightly used copy of Windows XP?
Full retail or OEM by Microsoft for computers without an operating
system?
