I have Outlook XP running on Windows Vista on a new HP laptop (and for
various reason I cannot upgrade to Office2007 yet). Some of my recieved
emails are displayed with the Internet encoding. There is no consistency as
to which emails are showing the encoding -- for example I can get two emails
from the same sender on the same day and one will look normal and one will
not.

As a test I told Outlook to leave copies of the emails on my provider's
server and when I use the browser interface to look at the copies they look
all look fine. So I think it has something to do with Outlook XP on Vista
since this never happened before.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a patch or workaround?

I am not sure what you mean by "encoding"; do you mean HTML code, by any
chance (tags such as <hmtl> etc.)?
