Ive just bought a computer from Mesh. I ordered a 300gb sata drive but on
the control panel it says its a scsi drive (also on the delivery note - but
not on the invoice)

Am I being incredibly dense or have I been conned??

SATA drives show up as SCSI drives you have to load drivers for them just as
you would a SCSI drive. If in fact you were given a 300 Gb SCSI drive
instead of a SATA drive consider yourself fortunate as you got a major
upgrade for free.

Don't know about the delivery note, but usually SATA-drives turn up as
SCSI-drives in Windows. This is not abnormal.
Anyway, if it really is a SCSI-drive, I suggest You should be very happy
with it! (but it won't).

Greetings and enjoy the new computer,
Rene

No, need much more info. Perhaps it would be better to start a new thread
about this problem, and give your systemspecs, your OS, what happens at the
freeze, when, ...

Maybe bad memory or motherboard. Don't wait too long. If you can't figure it out return it while it is still under warranty.

You're right, I had forgotten it was a new computer. Indeed it should be
taken back to the store.

Good luck!

Look inside at the cable to the drive:

- thin rope like cable is SATA

- wide ribbon cable is SCSI or IDE (you can also have rounded IDE
cables - but they are thicker than SATA cables)
