I was always told to only run one virus program to avoid conflicts. I have
Symantec now and would like to add Microsoft Antispyware beta also. Can they
be run at same time?

Thank you,

Gerry

Hi,

MSAS is not an antivirus tool, it's antispyware one.. It protects against a
little different kind of malware applications. And yes, (it is even
recommended!!) to run MSAS along with antivirus tool.

Thank you, I wasn't reading carefully enough.

Hey Gerys

Yes you can have different Antispy Programs installed without them causing
any problems, You should avoid having more than one with real time protection
as that could cause conflicts and its not a good idea to scan with more than
one at the same time as it will slow the system down but apart from that they
would work well together,

Each Antispy company will have a different set of definitions so to be sure
your system is clean and stays clean its good to have more than one
installed, Most user's would use programs like Ad-Aware SE and Spybot Search
& Destroy with MS Antispy and they will not cause any conflicts with each
other,

If you use Spybot you wouldnt need to enable the Tea-Timer feature as MS
Antispy's real time protection would be enough but you can still use the
Immunize feature on Spybot and the SDHelper protection,

Adaware doesn't offer RealTime protection on the free remover so that
wouldnt interfere with MS Antispy, There plenty of other choices like
Spysweeper which has Real Time protection but you need to pay for that
program and it still works well with MS Antispy although you may get double
warnings if you use the Real Time on both,

Andy
