A friend of mine has setup a server at home.

Is there some software or something online i can run to see how secure his
server is.
In particular i want to know which ports his router is allowing through to
his server.
Is this possible?

You need to know his public ip address and then you need a port
scanner like Super Scan to check his TCP ports. There are other scanners
that will also check UDP ports [search Google for port scanners]. He could
also go to one of the free self scanning sites like
http://scan.sygatetech.com/ to do the various tests. --- Steve
