I would like to get a tetxt notification when I receive an email from
certain sources that contain voice messages. I can easily create a rule to
FORWARD the message but I just want a short text saying "You have a new
voicemail."

Outlook itself can't do that, but you could solve it with VBA.

To clarify - I have tried creating a filtered forward rule on the server and
on the client. I can't get the server based rule to do anything at all. I
have been successful in getting a client based rule to actually trigger but
the email is not arriving at the destination. I tried using a cell phone
address and a regular web based email address as the targets. Still no
forwarded email has arrived.

If I manually forward the message to my cell phone it works just fine.

Any insight on this will be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: I got the forward to work from a hint I picked up at TechRepublic
(http://techrepublic.com.com/5208-111...sageID=1803450).
That gets me over a major showstopper. Now I can focus on what I really
wanted to do in the first place. That is to send a 'new' message NOT forward
the one I received (which can yield multiple messages being sent to the cell
phone).

Has anyone accomplished this feat?
