I opened a Word attachment in Outlook and forgot to 'Save As'. I did click
control S, so thought it was saved. However, when I closed the e-mail and
was asked if I wanted to save changes, I accidently clicked 'No'. Given I
had been saving the document with Control S, is it saved somewhere? I can't
find it in Word or the recycle bin. Please help!

Maybe the email message that contains the attachment may have the
updated document until the last CTRL+S.

The temp folder where Outlook saves a copy of file that you are editing
is its hidden OLK folder. Go into the registry and look at the key:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817878

You did not mention WHICH version of Outlook that you use. For OL2002,
replace the 11.0 or 12.0 shown in the above article with 10.0, or
another product version number if you are using an even earlier version
of Outlook.

Thanks. I was able to find the file under the Temporary Internet
Files\Content.Outlook under another folder called MTLF2Q4Z!!! Very unhelpful
folder name but the file was there. Thanks for your help.

You should NEVER change an attachment unless you save it to disk and then
change the saved version. That said, why not modify the registry key's value
to move the Outlook Temp Secure folder to a more "helpful" location.

Emma Turner you are a genius! I had the same problem and managed to retrieve a file which I had spent 8 hours to prepare. Thank you very much!
