I am using Office 2003 Access and deleted some records. I thought they would
just be deleted from the active query, but they were deleted from the
database altogether. Is there any way that I can retrieve the deleted
records? Unfortunately, I had not backed up my database previous to this so
that is not an option. I also tried system restore, but that to was not of
any help. Please advise. Thank you!

Unfortunately, they're probably gone.

Take a look at what Tony Toews has at

The thing you MUST remember is that a query is just a dynamic window into
your table(s). It does not create a separate copy of your data. If you
delete data from a query you are deleting them from your table. I'd say
you've lost them for good.

I'm really doubtful that your deleted data can be recovered, but IF you
haven't compacted the database, it's just barely POSSIBLE that a third-party
vendor might be able to retrieve the deleted data for a fee.

Microsoft lists a few vendors on their Knowledge Base article:
"Description of troubleshooting corruption in an Office Access 2003 database"
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;824271

Check under the heading of "Data Recovery". These vendors generally deal
with corrupt databases, but it's possible that they might be able to help in
your situation.

Hope that helps!
