I unchecked the option
"Enable automatic image resizing"
(under Tools > Internet Options > Advanced) because usually when I have a
large image I want to save it as an image file and the automatic resizing
reduces not only the displayed size but the saved image resolution (and why
the heck waste the time downloading, say, a 2000 pxl square image if you're
only going to save something half or a quarter the resolution?).
But now I can't figure out how to make the image resize to the IE window
when I want to see it all at once.
When I was in resize mode, hovering the cursor over the image would pop up a
little icon to do this, but that no longer happens. Right clicking on the
image doesn't seem to bring up anything useful.
Is there any convenient way to shrink the image to fit, other than
re-enabling automatic resizing?
The problem with that is that 90% of the time the shrunken image is not what
I want, and I just know that sometimes I'm going to get distracted and not
restore the full size before saving.
[And hey, it's not what you're thinking ;-) It's the Astronomy Picture
of the Day.

and click on the image to get a full resolution one. ]
