Hello,

I downloaded the ClearType Tuner PowerToy but wasnt satisfied with the
settings, so I removed it again in order to get the standard Cleartype
settings back .

Yet, even after I uninstalled the "ClearType Tuner PowerToy", the
settings it made seem to have stayed.

I would like to revert to my original state, i.e. when I did not have
"ClearType Tuner PowerToy" installed and had the option "Cleartype"
checked in the display options (effects).

Any help appreciated!

Alex

I had a similar experience. I uninstalled the tuner but then I also changed
the setting in the dropdown menu from CLEAR TYPE to STANDARD in the box
" use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts"
(Display Properties/Appearance/Effects button).

Hope this helps

Dan

Click Start > Run
Type "desk.cpl ,2" (Without quotes)
Click Effects button
In "Use the following method to smooth screen font", choose "Standard"
Click OK twice

Ok, let me rephrase my question: I would like to revert to my original
ClearType state, i.e. that state, when I had Cleartype checked on but
had not ever installed the powertoy tuner. With the tuner, there are
six options of appearances. It seems that even when I uninstall, it
keeps one of the six options. What I want, is the standard cleartype
option before I ever powertuned it.

Rregards,Alex

Reinstall it and choose normal setting (or whatever you want)

Reinstall the tuner, set it to the default state that you had, then
uninstall it.

at the risk of sounding like a simpleton: i cant figure out which one
that was of the 1-3 in row 1 and 4-6 in row 2.... and trying all six
out will just make me more confused.
