can I reference field properties from a global template

I have added custom field properties to a global template and would like to
insert them into other documents. is it possible to reference them, possibly
using insert field Document properties or something like that?

A document property is specific to the document that contains it. Perhaps you
could explain further what you are trying to accomplish?
