It's a bit late to say this now, but yeah, it's always a good idea to
have some file recovery software that keeps track of version changes
and deleted files, running on your system at all times. Very, very
helpful in recovering deleted data quickly in case of an emergency
rather than looking for a fix after the incident. Also useful in cases
where the (deleted) file was modified after the last backup, and no
current copy exists intact.
