My outlook account was configured by someone else and no one in my small
office knows how to fix this problem, we so far have got round it by using
another web mail account but I would very much like to get this running
properly can anyone tell me how, what to do to solve this?

Do you receive any errors when trying to send mail?

I am having the same issue. My Outlook was configured with my company's pop
and smtp servers, but I am on a different ISP (Cox). The error message I
receive when I test the account settings says:
"Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) email server."

I tried to contact Cox, but they can't give any information because they
don't support Outlook.

I am able to make my Outlook work with my Cox (personal) email address, but
not my work email address.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

As an update for the other person with this issue - I had to change the
incoming/outgoing SMTP server addresses. We assumed they were
mail.companyname.com, but they were just companyname.com. So you might try
taking off the mail. in front of the server name and see if that works.

What Outlook version are you using? Is sounds like it is possible that you
have the wrong settings for your account. Check with your isp on the
correct account settings and then go to into the account setup and check it.
