Outlook retrieves all mail sent to me but gives the error message "0x80042109
Server not found" when I try to send mail from my laptop, here in France.
My ISP is Tiscali and I have no problems with the same machine when working
from home in the UK.
I've tried disabling the virus scanner (AVG 7.5) and the MS firewall but
with no success.
Any suggestions please?

When in France, are you connected to the TIscali ISP? I expect not. Then, as
far as Tiscali are concerned you could be a spammer trying to use their smtp
server to send spam.

Either, connect to Tiscali network whilst in France, so that they can
authenticate you as their customer (probably expensive) or use your local
ISP's smtp server, or use an authenticated smtp server such as googlemail,
which will work regardless of which network you are connected to.

This question has been asked a zillion times on this newsgroup. A quick
google would have found the answer.
