this is what you do. Run as fast as you can to the nearest apple store with
a couple thousand bucks and purchase one of those machines.

Don't be delusional. The laws of physics don't change for Apple.
A port 25 block imposed by the ISP is a port 25 block for all computers.

Was he using a laptop away from home? Or perhaps an Internet
connection other than Verizon? If so, what he experienced
is normal. Reply back to confirm the circumstances, so I can give you
some workarounds.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to me and the other jackass response
was just frustrating - since this is the first time I am using this as a help
tool. S

SO Gary - My father uses this laptop as his PC - it's been moved from garage
office to bedroom office - but same wireless connection has been used the
entire time.

PLEASE HELP.

Assuming that the Internet connection is coming from Verizon, then
we can rule out a port 25 block. The next most likely cause for that
error is interference from a non-compatible antivirus program.
Which antivirus is it?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, the antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:
