You can't when using the FP Hit Counter. A hit counter is suppose to count every time a request is
made to the server, and a refresh is a request back to the server.

It's doing exaxctly what it's supposed to do - count "hits" to the page -
including if you refresh the page - that loads the page again, hence a "hit" to
the page. You can't do anything more with the frontpage "hit" counter.

There are other products on the market that count unique visitors etc but
Frontpage's counter cannot do this

Frontpage does have a "statistics" feature which gives you a range of info based
I think on the server logs, but again, the ISP would have to enable this feature.
(requires server extensions also).

George,

If you have IE set to it default settings, then when you hit refresh or F5, the page is pulled from
Temp. Internet Folder and will not increment the hit counter, however if IE is set to always check
for new content then the Hit Counter will be updated every time a refresh or F5 is done.

So you have no control over this, as it is depends on how each user has their browser configured.

Which version of FrontPage has the statistics feature? I wasn't aware of
it. I have FP2000. Thanks

For your security and peace of mind ALL emails are automatically scanned
with the latest Norton AV Virus Definitions. Not that I have any virus'
but why not be careful! I get virus signature updates regularly!

FP2002 and the host must also have the FP2002 extensions installed and configured to support the
stat feature.

Hello again. I guess it's just an issue with the FrontPage Hit counter. Because I have made no changes in my IE properties and many Hit counters on the web do not do this. Many examples at eBay.
