i can put a audio cd and it will play,but when i put a dvd in it wont play

Were you previously able to play DVDs? Do you have a DVD decoder installed?

Please help us to help you. What does "it wont play" mean? What happens when
you try? If you get an error message, please quote it verbatim.

Have you ever been able to play DVDs, or has it always been this way?
Assuming the latter, are you sure your drive is a DVD drive, and not just a
CD drive? If it is a DVD drive, have you installed DVD-playing software
(Windows XP doesn't come with this capability)?

yes i could and yes i have a decoder,i have intervideo

Have you tried reinstalling WinDVD?

When you try to play a DVD, do you receive an error message or what does
happen?
