Using XP home updated. Can ping both XP systems and an NT but when I use
the View Network Computers the system temporarly hangs and then produces
a message "workgroup" is not accessible. You might not have permission
to use this network resource. Contact the Admin..... The list of servers
for this workgroup is not currently available.

Do not get it. Any help???

TIA

Steve,

One of the most common causes of this problem ("The list of servers for this
workgroup is not currently available.") would be a misconfigured or overlooked
personal firewall, but there several are other possibilities. What antivirus
product do you use? Read this article, with an open mind, and consider all
possibilities.

If no help yet, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely:

If you are using Norton Internet Security package take a look at the personal
firwall. I just installed 2 new Dell pc's and the could not see the p2p
network but could get to the internet. Dell support was useless and Microsoft
will not help since XP was OEM. Both machines could see the local network
untill I installed all of the updates. I could then see the network if I
booted in safe mode. Anyway . . . go check the personal firwall in your virus
packade, if it is Norton it defaults to ON.
