How can I permanently keep folder layouts?

Outlook 2003 on Exchange Server.

I have two folders which keep changing their layouts, again, and again,
and again.

- one is the Spam folder on the Exchange Server, which I would like to
show the 'incoming' layout, with 'From' and 'Received' fields.

- one is in a Personal Folders file, where I keep certain 'Sent' items,
and I would like to show 'To' and 'Sent' fields.

A few days after setting them manually, they just revert: the 1st one to
'outgoing' layout, the other one to 'incoming' layout. They don't do it
at the same time, but usually on the same day.

Is there some way that I can *permanently* keep the layout I've chosen?
And any idea as to *why* Outlook is doing that? That has been happening
for many years, and it is getting very, *very* annoying.

Um, "Spam" or "Junk E-mail"? The latter is an Outlook default folder. The
former isn't.

There are no views in Outlook named "outgoing" or "incoming".

Actually the folder name is 'Spam', and it is created by Cloudmark
Desktop spam filter.

"Outgoing" and "incoming" are my terms for folders that contain sent
items or received items. Naturally I don't need to see the 'From' value
in sent messages (it's always my name), nor do I want to see the 'To'
value in received messages (it's always my name). Yet this is exactly
what Outlook keeps showing, again, and again, and again.

Outlook considers this a folder like any other. Nothing special about it. It
should use the Messages view by default. Is that what's chosen?

If you want people to understand you, you need to use the terms Outlook uses
and not make up your own for which we have no referent. The normal view that
mail folders get if the Messages view. The normal view the Sent Items folder
gets is the Sent To view. Those are the words in the Outlook menus and
toolbars.

Again, what views are you selecting and when to they change?

Thank you for your information on the 'Messages' and 'Sent To' views. I
never knew that; I always changed individual fields.

Now I have looked up Outlook Help, and found how to apply 'Messages' or
'Sent To' view with a single click. That makes things very much easier
