Can I permanently change Save File target folder?

My question is as follows: using Win XP Pro my default target
destination for "Save Files" is C:\My Documents. I've added a slave HD
to my system for the purpose of keeping all of my data. It would be far
easier for me if my default Save File destination was changed to
D:\Data. For the moment I have a shortcut in C:\My Doc~ pointing to
D:\Data, but unless I reorganize the folder or right click in the Save
File target window and select "Arrange Icons by Type", its hard to find
the shortcut in C:\My Doc~.

Is it possible to make this simpler?

Thanks for your time.

One way to address this: On my system, I've gone into the properties of My
Documents. Using the Move button found here, this "My" folder and all of
its contents (My Pictures, My Videos, etc) have been redirected to D:\Docs.

Thank you. I knew that you couldn't physically move My Doc~ from the
partition to which you installed Win XP, but I didn't realize that the
option you speak of was under Properties (folder).
