My questions are similar to Simon's.

You can do this easily by setting up the document for PPT to receive.

In Word, use styles.

Heading 1 = slide title
Heading 2 = 1st level bullet
Heading 3 = 2nd level bullet
etc.

So, if you need a title then 3 first-level bulleted text lines, then a new
slide, you'd do this:

Heading 1
Heading 2
Heading 2
Heading 2
Heading 1
Heading 2
Heading 2
Heading 2

and so on.

Every time PPT sees Heading 1, it will create a new slide and put that text
in the title placeholder.

You can format the slide master in PowerPoint so the text and titles look
like you want. Go to View | Master | Slide Master, select the placeholders
and apply the type of formatting (font size, color, etc.) you want.

In Notepad, you'd use tabs.

No tab = slide title
1 tab = 1st level bullet
2 tabs = 2nd level bullet
etc.

Once you've set up your document, use File | Open, change the dropdown to
"all files" or "all outlines" and open your document.

Oh, duh. Here's a couple of quick tutorials that explain it all much better.
