Using Paint on older MS o/s (w98, w2k) if I have something on the
clipboard that's larger than the current canvas in Paint, on paste I
would get the query "Would you like the bitmap enlarged?" - and often
I would say NO, taking advantage of the crop-like capability of
Paint. I can't get that functionality from Paint on XP (Paint version
5.1 blahblahblay Service Pack 3).

How can I get that functionality with Paint on XP?

After pasting click Image, Attributes, and then set it to what ever you
want to crop the image to.
