I have not been able to run .swf files recently and get a message that there
is no file association. I have updated macromedia shockwave and flash ...
still nothing.

I can add an association in folder options but have no idea what file it's
looking for ... can someone please give me that information ... Thanks

Brian,
Not meaning to start a fudge-fight here but do you know of an article about
READING what is asked?
So many times I ask questions "A", "B", "C", and get a reply to XYZ, or I
explain my problem,"....I didn't pay my electric bill this month and they
shut my lights off NOW my computer won't start". And get an answer "...run
chkdsk and memtest86+".
Regards
Xan

Not that I'm aware of.
If you have issue with my response, state it. Providing a link to Flashplayer
support is not off track since many issues are caused by an update of the
Flashplayer.

Obviously in the scenerio you provide the responders would be wrong in not seeing
the entire question properly. It's all to apparent that your power was disconnected
by the power company and not only your lights are off. It would be quite the trick
for the power company to control exactly what elements in a home they could
discontinue power for and what to leave on.

Since some may not know that the Flashplayer is provided by Adobe even though it
carries the Macromedia name:

Since some may not know that the Flashplayer is provided by Adobe even though it
carries the Macromedia name, the link below is the Adobe support site for Macromedia
Flashplayer.

What program did you use to open .swf files with before?
When you try to open one by double-clicking on it, do you get a popup that
offers to find a program? If so, you should be able to browse to your
program, select that program to run it and set it to always use that
program.
I use freeware swiffplayer, from http://www.globfx.com/ to play .swf files.

There are numerous programs that can run flash
files. I use Irfanview, (Irfanview.com) which is
free and also is the most well-rounded general
image viewer that I know of.
