I can only print once

I am running XP Pro adn I am printing to an HP LaserJet
1000. Every time I go to print I am able to print the
first document but after that no more printing can be
done. All the other programs "work" but you cant print
anything. (Excel, MSword, PPT etc)
I have to reboot the system and then I get Program Not
responding then IE.exe end now or cancel option.

This s becoming impossible. Any help would be great.
