I have relatively often to switch between (Swiss-)German and English locale on my system.

What I find annoying after some while is, that the default settings for Switzerland are a bit outdated (e.g. the official abbreviation for the currency is not SFr. but CHF) and so I keep changing these and a few other preferences each time after I switched the locale but next time they are back at their (presumably "hardcoded") defaults again. Can't one adapt these defaults somewhere, so that one doesn't have to go through all that hassle each time but can simply switch locales and that's it?

Find the registry changes using RegShot then open
the keys with the registry editor and export them.

RegShot may catch some other things too, so look
at the results carefully.

Thanks - I had a look - nice tool!

However, IMHO the problem here is exactly that the changes are NOT written into the registry, i.e. next time I change the language to something else and then back to German (Switzerland) again the old, wrong settings appear again. I would like to tweak those "default" settings.

I realize that I could use RegShot to capture all changes (including my manual adaptations) - which probably *are* written to the registry - and then, instead of changing the locale via Control Panel => Regional and Language Settings I could create me two scripts to simply and directly apply all corresponding registry changes instead (which would then contain my manual adaptations, too).

Somehow I would feel more comfortable, though, if I could continue to use that Control Panel applet to switch language settings instead of directly manipulating the registry. If only that applet would memorize my modifications...

But if I find nothing else I mind indeed try that route...
