Can I lock down the OLK folder to prevent users from mistakenly saving files
here? Can I force them to save in a document management system?

No. You can use a macro to disable the Save button and make them use Save
as or replace the Save button with a procedure that saves to the doc
management system. But it only works with word and excel.

Thanks for the quick reply Diane. Is it possible for the macro only to run
for those files opened from within Outlook? Or would this apply to the entire
office environment?

it's been a very long time since I programmed in word or excel so I'm a bit
fuzzy and I'm not sure if you can apply it only to files opened from
outlook.
