Hi,
uses: Windows xp+sp2; IE+7;Windows Defender;Kaspersky Antivirus for
WinWorkstation 6.x;

Recently I had this problem where I can not go to certain *%.microsoft.com
sites, most notabaly http://support.microsoft.com is causing problems.
However I can view www.microsoft.com and other site(s) without any problem.

This problem has extended to Firefox as well.

I have checked the *.host file, and didnt see any malicious movement in
those files nor any blocks nor any redirections.

I also unistalled IE+7, and returned to IE6 but the problem still seem to be
sticked with it as well.

I posted this entry to Internet Explorer newsgroup (however didnt get a
solution so far), then realised that the base of the problem is caused at
windows level and not at the browser level, so posted this at Windows XP
newsgroup. (hope I did the correct thing).

If someone could point a solution for this or point me any places where this
blocks and redirections happens excpet for *.host file, I would be much
appreciated for them. anyone have a solution for this?

Hi all,
I figured out to solve this problem. I uninstalled IE7 and was using IE6.
Pls. note that even in IE6 i had this bizare problem. Finally uninstalled IE6
and installed IE7, bingo! it works... finally I can see the site which was
blocked earlier.

Also note that Firefox is still having the problem, so I ignored it and
switch to IE7 since I was atleast able to see the site.

Regards,
