can not use key board

Hi I am new my problem is that I can use my ckey board to open my bios but
when Iopen word or any other programs I can not type with it. I have checked
the 6 pins none are bent and bought a usb adapater plus a new key board. Took
my old they board to work it works fine. What should I do HELP!!!. FBI5
