I can not uninstall Defender - I get an error code 2318.

I've tried downloading the latest .msi and reinstalling, but that generates
the same error.

I agree with Engel, try that first if you haven't already, but perhaps you
or a registry cleaner removed the original Defender installation download
in which case you'll need to do more radical surgery. See this thread and
Bill Sanderson's replies if that's what the problem seems to be. Do you
have Ms Office installed on that system?
