Dear All;

I'm using one Windows 3.11 system and need to share some file through network to other PC. It can works fine to PC that with Windows 9x and windows 2K. However it can not be work on Windows XP due to when I try to browse the Windows 3.11 PC on my network place, the PC name didn’t show on the network place. I have add netbeui protocol and disable the Internet Connection firewall (ICF). However the Windows XP still can not search the Windows 3.11 PC on network. I don't know why? Anyone can help me.

Regards

The key to networking different versions of Windows is to use the
same, single protocol for file and printer sharing on all computers.
Using more than one protocol, on even a single computer, can disrupt
the network, especially when XP is involved.

If that protocol is NetBEUI, then install it on XP and un-bind sharing
from TCP/IP on all computers. If that protocol is TCP/IP, then
un-install IPX/SPX and NetBEUI from all computers. I've written a web
page with details:

Windows XP Network Protocols
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/..._protocols.htm

Make sure that you follow the XP NetBEUI installation instructions
exactly. If you don't, the protocol will appear to install, but it
won't work:

If NetBEUI doesn't work right , look for relevant messages in Event
Viewer. To run it, click Start | Control Panel | Performance and
Maintenance | Administrative Tools | Event Viewer. For more
information, see:
