I just recently bought a linksys router/wap and hooked up
to a desktop computer conected via ethernet cable and
labtop using wireless card. Both are running windows xp
home. My problems of not seeing the workgroup occurs on
the desktop. The laptop can see itself and the desktop
computer under see workgroups. However, when i click on
see workgroup on the deskstop i get an error message
stating "Network is accessible. You might not have
permission to use this network resource. contact the
admin .... The list of server for this workgroup is not
currently available. What steps should i do to resolve
this problem? What might be causing this problem. I did
run some system diags. When i type ping 192.168.1.104 i
get a time out message. WHat does this mean ?

Thanks,
Tim

I am having the same problem but within a small business
environment - is your IP address static? or does the
computer automatically allocate one? I have got internet
access but cannot get one computer to link....

Have you had any other replies yet that may help?

Barbara

Sorry about the "blank" re, bad case of happy fingers.
Sounds like you're up against a firewall. Disable any firewall including ICF
and see if you are able to access your net.
