Hello,

I have a win2000 server and i have the following problem. From the win2000
server i can see the entire network but i can not see the win2000 server
from a client pc. When i ping to the win2000 server i get an answer but i
can not make a mapping to the server. However i can use a remote desktop
software(netop) to reach the server.

What can be the problem? Please help!

Thx in advance,

Johan

If you are saying you cannot see the server in Network Places, it is a
NetBIOS issue. Network Places does not use DNS it uses NetBIOS over TCP/IP
or WINS.
That being said, can you make the mapping to the FQDN of the server?
(\\server.domain.com\sharename)
