I need to have outlook to access a backup version of my pst file. Following
the instructions in help. it says that I first have to make the backup pst
file my default by indicating that it is the destination to receive new
e-mail. I do not see a place menu where I can choose that option. Can
someone didrect me?

You don't have to do that. If you want to access a backup copy of your PST,
use File>Open>Outlook Data File, browse to the copy, select it, and click
OK. All done.
