can not play my photo cd on my dvd

i have no trouble making my photo's on cd and playing them on the my dvd to watch on tv! on my windows 98 pc but on my new pc which is xp, it will not play on the dvd to watch on tv, i just get
a thing comes up that looks like a folder, i have wasted so many discs trying to sort it out but i can not please hel
