I am running Win2K on my laptop. I installed Microsoft Media Player
version 9. When I play videos .avi from my canon dig. camera I get
the sound but not the pictures. Where the pics should be I get a
kaleidoscope of colors. WTF?

This is an older laptop but has enough power to run .FLV videos and
any other stuff. My home desktop computer will play these same videos
even in Win98 using MP9.

The laptop may be missing the required video codec; you could try installing
the ones from
http://www.theorica.net/codecs.htm
