Can not open "task request" "task accepted" in Inbox

I am unable to open any task items that are delivered to my inbox. I am
able to read the items in my preview reading pane and can view the
"accept" and "declline" buttons.

I am able to send task requests and the recipent on another computer is
able to open the item, accept or decline it, and send their answer back
to me. However, when their answer is delivered to my inbox I can not
open the item. I have tried double clicking the item, right clicking
the item and clicking "open", going to File/open selected item all to
no avail. Consequently, my task requests continue to show "waiting for
response from recipient" and the task will not update.

The same thing happens when I am the recipient of a task request. I can
see the accept/decline buttons in my preview reading pane but cannot
respond to their request.

I have checked my Tools/Options/Task Options and both boxes are checked
stating: "Keep an updated copy of this task on my task list", and "send
me a status report when this task is complete". When I assign a task I
also check both of these same boxes in task window.

I have updated my Outlook program and this has not corrected the
problem. I have also unistalled my Outlook updates and this has also
not corrected the problem.

I have searched online and see that other people have a similar
problem, but have yet to see a solution.

thanks in advance for any advice.

I need to add that I did check to see if I had installed the Outlook
update contained in KB 892843 that is known to cause problems with
Tasks. I do not see it listed in Control Panel/ Add/Remove programs
under "updates". But, my list of updates only shows updates since
3/15/06 - don't know why it is not showing other previous updates since
I am sure, since I am on automatic updates, there should be updates
shown prior to that date.

So now I have a second question: how can I find out if Update # KB
892843 is installed on my computer if it does not show up in Control
Panel?

Thanks,
Laparker

ok, after more research I find that I have a later Outlook Update
(#913807). Would that update remove the one that caused some of the
problems for other users (#892843). Is that why I can not find #892843
in my Add/Remove programs window?

Hope someone has a solution out there- this is very frustrating. thanks!
