can not open office outlook 2003 E-mail

Cannot open Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 E-mail receive the error:Unable to
open your default e-mail folder.The file C:\Documents and settings\Steve
Abell\Local settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook .pst is not a
personal folders file. Please help!

Run Scanpst to correct errors: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287497
Is that the actual file name for outlook.pst or just a typo? No space before
..pst.
