I have Windows vista and I can not open .emi attacments in Outlook 2003. Does
anybody have any ideas about how to open that attachment type?

emi or eml? Have you asked the person sending you the file what application
should open the attachment?

It is a .eml file and it is supposed to be an Outlook file but outlook does
not want to open it.

Why do you feel it is an Outlook file? .eml files, iirc, are created by
Outlook Express, not Outlook. I'm not entirely sure Outlook should be able
to open them.

What happens when you save it to the desktop and double click on the file?

My searches on the internet has said this file type is for Outlook, Outlook
Express and Microsoft Mail. I have also been able to open these files in XP
so this is just a Vista thing.

And on XP, these files open with the same version of Outlook?

Not to mention my other questions:

What does the person who sent you the files say should be used to open the
file?
What happens if you save the file to the desktop and try double clicking
on the file?

And a new question:
What actuall happens when you try to open the file?

You've been searching in the wrong places then. Microsoft Office Outlook
doesn't support the eml-format. This is not a "Vista thing", it has always
been like this.
