Please help, I tried everything.
Compaq notebook, 1210us, win2000, celeron processor.

I have recently reformated hard drive and installed win2000 pro, complete,
clean install. Everything works fine except for the built-in nic, modem or
the wireless nic. I downloaded latest drivers for the wireless nic which is
Netgear MA401 but windows will not accept it. it says driver can not be
found.

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Not from Compaq but the wireleess card is not a Compaq card it is a netgear.

This is looks like same problem as yours.

also They have two of version2.6 file.
one called win95 only file have empty 200 folder ,(which is top of download list from Netgear download list)
try official release xp version of version2.6(bottom of list from netgear MA401 driver) or Shipping version.

If this isn't your problem, can you check your PCMCIA controller?
make sure your PCMCIA Alot are working.
also check event viewer to find any error.

Assuming you can, physically remove the nic. start
computer, uninstall nic thru software, shut down computer.
Reinstall nic like new. good luck.
