Please help me...
I am trying to install software for my all in one printer but I get the
error which I found out that I need to install microsoft.net framework 1.1.
I can not install this or the framework redirect. I get an error ended
prematurely. I have checked my computer and do not have any dot.net
anywhere on the hard drive.
I have windows ME edition and used to have dot.net but when our computer
crashed we had to use the hp recovery and this never came back.
Can someone please help me before I throw this computer out the window?
Thank you

You are going to have to be much more specific as to what kind of system you
have, what it is that you are trying to do and EXACTLY what error messages
you are getting at EXACTLY what point in the installation process you get
them.

Hi Scott.
Please bare with me on this. I appreciate your help.
This is my system info
OS NAME MICROSOFT WINDOWS
Version 4.90.3000 Build 3000
OS Manufac. Microsoft corp
System Type X86-based PC
Processor Intel(r) Celeron (tm) processor GenuineIntel~700 Mhz
BIOS Version Version 2.03
Windows Directory C:\WINDOWS
Locale United States
Time Zone Eastern Daylight Time
Total Phsyical Memory 318.45MB
Available Phys. Memory 3.79 MB
Total Virtual Memory 2.00GB
Avail. Virt. Memory 1.52 MB

All I really want to do is install my hp all in one printer. But I do not
have any dot.net framework on my computer anymore. Hp is saying I need to
install this from microsoft.com. I downloaded dotnetfx and tried to install
it, I got passed the user agreement, gathers info, copies new files, binding
exec, writing system registry values, TIME REMAINING 0. Then it starts
rollingback action. it says failed below that. Then a box comes up that
says. microsoft.netframework 1.1 setup has ended prematurely. If persists
contact tech support.
I am not sure if I can use framework 1.1 for Millenium edition because I
think that we used to have something called dot.net. But I can not find that
either.
Thank you for your help... I really do appreciate it.
Jenny

What I can tell you is that the .NET Framework can be installed on any
version of Windows from Win95 onward. Where did you get the dotnetfx
installation file from? Have you tried going to the Windows Update site
(windowsupdate.microsoft.com) and updating your copy of Windows with the
Framework from there?

I can also see by the specs. that you've listed that your system doesn't
seem to have very much available RAM (3.79 MB of physical and 1.52 MB of
virtual). A system with only 5MB of available RAM at any one point in time
is ripe for installation failures.

You have your virtual memory set to 2GB and yet, you only have 1.52 of that
available! What is running on your system that is using so much RAM? Try
killing running programs and/or increasing the size of your virtual RAM.
