Movie Maker can't import directly from a DVD camcorder... check the
Importing Source Files > Video > Discs page of my website.

The files on the disc are MPEG-2 and you need to convert them to AVI before
importing, using other software.

Hello,

The solution (I think) is fairly easy....Download Nero 6 (30 day free
trial) from www.nero.com. Run Nero Vision Express 3 and select the option
to make a movie...stay with it...its not what you are probably
thinking....when you get to the main screen select the option "Import Disk"
Having first placed your dvd disk in your computers drive that is......

Nero will import the full thing and strip out any menu structure that may
exist. You then move to the "Export" option at the bottom of the screen and
choose file type and location etc...Job Done

I have one of those dedicated TV / DVD recorders. I import the disk as
described above and edit it within Nero and add menus and chapters etc and
burn to a DVD disk for storage/use The important thing here is that if you
do not choose to put more on one disk than it would normally hold...there
is NO RECOMPRESSION and you get a maximum quality DVD for great viewing

If you decide to try it out and have a problem...let me know
