Can not get into "SAFE mode" !!!

I do get into "SAFE mode" menu (F8 while restart) and select the "SAFE mode"
option.... BUT... it fail and the PC start in normal mode only.

Note : The case is on of the leftovers of a VIRUS attach on my PC and may
reflect some other problems !!!

As detailed I'm in the procces of recovering from a virus attack. Some
clean up can not be performed in normal mode.

Other thing that still having problem with : unable to install any antivirus
!!!

By any chance have you installed Spywarebot on your computer? I did and
could not boot into Safe Mode. I contacted them and they sent me an updated
program that allows boot into the Safe Mode. Seems they modified the
program to work with both WinXP and Vista and the Safe Mode problem in XP
was an unknown byproduct of the modification. They have now corrected the
problem.
