I am using Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.1, I can log on to localhost
through my browser. But when I try to log on through Front page I get one of
two error mesages.

An error occurred accessing your Windows SharePoint Services site files.
Authors - if authoring against a Web server, please contact the Webmaster for
this server's Web site. WebMasters - please see the server's application
event log for more details.

Documents in this folder are not available. The folder may have been moved
or deleted, or network problems may be preventing a connection to the server.
I'm using Front Page 2003 on Windows xp pro.

FPSE is the FrontPage Server Extensions and they are required to be installed and configured when
you install IIS from the Windows XP Pro CD in order for you to be able to access your local web site
under IIS from within FP using http://localhost

anyway I can configure and if so where on my drive can I find them. I went
to Server Extensions Administrator, but there seems to be no way to configure
them.

Can you open just http://localhost in FP? If so do you then see a folder called "pinkieswear" with a
globe on it?

No, when I type in localhost I get "THE FOLDER HTTP://LOCALHOST/ISN'T
ACCESSIBLE, THE FOLDER MAY BE LOCATED, PROTECTED WITH A PASSWORD OR THE
FILENAME CONTAINS A/ OR\". Out of the four sites I have only the pinkieswear
has a globe on it.

Did you recently install IE 7 by any chance?
If so, add localhost to the trusted sites in IE 7.

If that doesn't help, try this:
Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download FP Cleaner ( with Expression Web Designer and
SharePoint Designer support )
Download links are at the bottom of the page.
Run the functions that clear:
The Hidden Temporary files.
The Hidden Cache (*.web) files.
