Hi everyone - maybe somebody here can help...

I am using FrontPage for two different websites. They are both hosted with
Yahoo. For one of them, when I add a new network location, it can never find
the website - it says website cannot be found. For the other one, I can add
this site to my network location and I used to be able to connect to it in
FrontPage using the Remote Website to make changes. Whenever I clicked on
Remote site, it would prompt me for my password and username, now it doesn't
do that. I went into properties and tried to set it up again, but now it
says the website does not have sharepoint access. Any ideas what the
problems could be ?

Thanks,

Chris

you're probably suffering from nothing more than improperly configured
FrontPage hosting.

I remember having all kinds of problems like you're describing until I found
better hosting.

Thanks for your response - what other web hosting companies are there which
allow you to use FrontPage sharepoint?

Thanks!

The FP2003 dialog is confusing in that it refers to SharePoint and FP extensions using the same
wording. SharePoint is only available on host running Windows 2003 Server and have opted to install
it. FP extensions are available on Windows Server as well as Unix/Linux servers.

If you feel your current issue is a results of installing
a Service Pack or security update, please contact

If the problem can be shown to have been caused by a
security update, then there is usually no charge for the call.

Chris,

I have bCentral hosting my personal sharepoint site and since they are part
of the Microsoft org they very adept at what they do. However, since you are
using someone else's servers you must conform to they best practices
policies.

Buy Windows Server 2003, Windows SharePoint Servicesm comes with it free,
and can play around with the form, fit, and functions to you personal tastes.
At work we went the server 2003 way and now I can do my own design and fine
tuning. On the hosted site, I can only ask them to install certain
functionality. For example, to display the PDF icon for pdf documents you
must install an ifilter, they still have not done that. At work I installed
it myself. Also installing web parts on a hosted site may not be possible; on
your own server it is not a problem.
