can not create clips

All of a sudden when I import a movie into Movie Maker, even though the
"create clips" check box is checked, it will not create the clips, i've tried
it from the tools menu and the clips menu also. It just will not turn a movie
into clips any more. Is anyone elese having the same problem? Anyone figure
out how to fix it yet?
