When I try and install a USB 1.1 external hard drive I get
a driver problem. Clicking on Start >> Control Panel >>
System >> Device Manager >> USB Device >> Properties
displays a window with the General tab open and a message
as follows in the window "The drivers for this device are
not installed (Code 28)" followed by "To reinstall the
drivers for this device click Reinstall Driver"
When I click Reinstall Driver the Install Hardware Device
drivers windo open and when I click on Serrch for a Driver
>> Next >> Next it shows that c:\winnt\inf\usbhub.inf was
found. I click on Next >> Finish and it takes me back to
the window with "The drivers for this device are not
installed (Code 28)" followed by "To reinstall the
drivers for this device click Reinstall Driver"
I have checked the IRQ levels and IRQ 9 is shared by a
number of video and audio devices as well as the USB
Device. I suspect this may be a conflict. Can I and/or
How can I change the IRQ for the USB device to something
other than 9?
