I have new dell machine Windows XP pro SP2 on a 2003 domain and the machines
can not see the network via network neightboorhood. I can not get to the
machines via administrative share either. What's going on? This has never
happened and I can not find any solutions. Does anyone have an information
on this issue?

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, but there are other possibilities too. What
antivirus protection do you use?

If no help yet, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely:

IPconfig /all is exactly what it should be. It has all IP's yet I can't see
anything and even stranger, sometimes it allows me to access shares and
sometimes not. Also, I can not ping the machine or use an administrative
share to get to it. I know it sounds like a network card issue but it's not
that either. All firewall properties are disabled and so it the virus scan.

Well, "sometimes it allows me to access shares and sometimes not", depending
upon the circumstances of "sometimes not", may be a browser problem (NOT
Internet Explorer) - read the article.

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, but there are other possibilities too. What
firewalls are disabled? What about antivirus or antiworm? Read with an open
mind:

We can dance around the problem, or you can let us see the diagnostic data -
it's your choice. Help us to help you.
