When I try to back up my outlook file, I get a message there is not enough
room on the destination drive. However, there is 200 Gig available and my
file is 5 Gig. There is about 45 Gig on the computer that has my Outlook.

Does anyone have any advice for me regarding this issue?

Thanks

How are you trying to backup the pst?
You can refer http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm

A backup is a simple file copy which has to occur when Outlook is closed. In
other words; Outlook is not involved in this. Tried scanning your disk for
errors already?

I've tried to back up the file onto two drives. One external and the other
through my network onto our server. Both were by drag and drop.

I'll go to the link you sent and see if it helps.

Thanks,

I understand outlook.pst is a simple file. I have tried to drag and drop it
onto an extrenal drive and through our network to our server.

I'll try scanning the disc. However, I did a complete anti-virus scan of my
computer last week and I could not copy the file then either.

The site you refer suggested what I've always done. It did not work.

I have a feeling, the problem resides with the size of the file. it is 5
Gig. Does that make any sense to you?

Tried to make a copy locally already? 200GB available says nothing when you
copy it to your corporate server; you are very likely limited in the amount
of space you can use. If the external drive is FAT32 formatted then the
maximum size of a file is 4GB; make sure you are copying to an NTFS
formatted drive.

Robert,
That's the problem. I'm transfering the file from and to a FAT32 drive.

Do you know of any on-line back up services that can take a file over 4Gig?

Thanks for you help.

If you can control the disks convert their filesystem to NTFS.
For the C:\ drive the command would be;
convert c: /fs:ntfs
